It is that time of the year again when some people give up something for lent and more take up something. We would encourage you to consider taking up coming to the Lenten services in the parish at 8pm on a Wednesday night as follows:

Thanks to everyone for supporting the pancake evening on Shrove Tuesday 25th February at the home of Vivian Wharton, Loughlea, Buttevant and to Vivian for hosting it. It was a most enjoyable evening.
Our next meeting will be on March 19th at 8pm in St. James’ Hall Mallow. Our speaker will be Mr. Michael Foudy and he will talk to us about his trip to India. This is open to all who are interested. There will be a raffle on the night. There will be a short meeting after to organise the Diocesan Festival Service which is in St. James’ Church Mallow on Thursday 30th April at 7.30pm. Speaker will be Mrs. June Butler All Ireland President. We will be hoping for parish support at this service.

Women’s World Day of Prayer
Women’s World Day of Prayer will be celebrated in Saint Joseph’s Church Hazelwood, on Friday 6th March at 8.15pm. The theme this year is “Rise! Take Up Your Mat And Walk” and this has been prepared by the women of Zimbabwe.

International Women’s Day
International Women’s day is on Friday the 6th of March. As a way of celebrating the creativity of the women in our lives, St Mary’s Church, Doneraile is hosting an exhibition of art, craft, singing, music, a little acting and a reading from one of Doneraile’s local authors. This event will run from 6.30pm to 8pm on Friday 6th March and will be open Saturday 7th /Sunday 8th 2 pm to 4pm. There will be an evening of Art music and readings in St Mary’s Church of
Ireland in Doneraile on Sunday 8th beginning at 7pm and everyone is very welcome. If any women or girls have art or craft they would like to display it can be left in the GREAT ARTitude gallery in Doneraile on Thursday 5th or Friday 6th March. St. Patrick’s Day
There will be a Service in St. James’ Mallow on Tuesday 17th March at 11am.

Music of the Night Friday 20th March
Music of the Night will be held in Christ Church, Fermoy on Friday 20th March 8pm in aid of Enable Ireland. Featuring Ann Linehan Soprano, Eoin Hynes Tenor, Eilis O’Sullivan Flute also Sibeal Quarter and Carrigaline Singers. Pre booking advisable. Music 4 All Fundraising Concert Friday 27th March
This is the 2nd annual fundraising concert, featuring choral groups, a capella group, soloists, musicians and poets and verse artists in the beautiful acoustic setting of St. James’ Church, Mallow. A wonderful evening of music and verse to raise funds for our services (Cantalk). All performers have very kindly donated their time and talents to our fundraiser, and we are extremely grateful to them as they make this concert possible. Register of Vestry members
The register of vestry members has to be update annually. At our next Vestry meeting on the 12th March we will be updating this. If you are not on the list, or not sure if you are on the list please talk to the Churchwardens and they will give you a form for completion. You need to be on the register to have a vote at the Easter Vestry (2nd April) to elect those who you wish to have on the Select Vestry for the coming year.
