On Wednesday 19th February our last meeting was held. Thanks to Mrs. Sandra Jansen for giving us such a colourful display of her patchwork. She explained the background to each quilt which made it a very interesting evening. A lot of time and talent is required for making these quilts. So thanks again for giving us her time. We hope to design and make a banner for the Mallow branch so we would welcome ideas and help if anyone is interested let us know. Our next meeting will be on Thursday 21st March at 8pm in St. James’ Hall, Mallow. “Beware of the Honey Bee” with David Lee. Everyone welcome.
St. Mary’s Church Doneraile Concert
The Annual Concert in aid of the Church Building Maintenance Fund was held on Maintenance Meetings:
All three churches in the parish have held their maintenance meetings recently. Thanks to all who attended and particular thanks to all who work so hard to keep our churches and their grounds, in good condition.
Constant work is needed to ensure that these lovely places of worship are kept up properly. Thank you all for your care of these places.
The Women’s World Day of Prayer was held in St Mary’s Church Doneraile on 1 st March. Thanks to all who organised this – especially Ina Lillis. Thanks also to the choir who came together to practice in order to sing at the service.
Good wishes to those who are recovering from surgery at present. We hope they will be back to normal shortly.
Vestry Register: Every year, some time before the Easter Vestry, the Select Vestry has to update the Register of those who are entitled to vote at the Easter Vestry. That is when our annual elections are held. The people you elect to the SELECT Vestry are charged with looking after the ‘Furnishing, Fabric and Finance’ of the parish for the following 12 months. If you are over 18 and think your name might not be on the Register to allow you to vote, please contact one of the Church Wardens or the Rector to get an application form to have your name added to the Register at the meeting to be held on 7th March.
Fermoy Rector:
We are delighted that a new Rector is coming to our neighbouring parish of Fermoy Union. The Very Revd. Gary Paulson will be Instituted as Incumbent in Christ Church, Fermoy on Sunday 7th April at 4pm. We welcome him and wish him and the parish, well in his future in North Cork.
