Our next meeting is Wednesday 20th February at 8pm in St. James’ Hall Mallow. Mrs. Sandra Jansen will show us her display of patchwork and speak about it. All Welcome. Also we would like to congratulate Victoria Wolfe on her 21st birthday which was the same day as we were bowling.

Confirmation
Anyone who is interested in being confirmed in the coming year please give you name to the Rector as soon as possible. There will be a confirmation morning in Cork on Saturday 2nd March with Bishop Paul Colton. The Bishop expects all young people who are to be confirmed to attend this.
Baptism
Aoife Frances Seymore was baptised at the morning service in St. James’ Mallow on 23rd December. Her parents John Mark and Lisa (Keane) and their families gathered for the occasion. Aoife was given the second name Frances in honour of her great-grandmother, Frances Bolster, who is remembered with great fondness in this parish.
Concert in St. James’ Church Mallow
The ETB schools in North Cork together with their teachers from the School of Music decided to hold a concert in St James’ Church again this year. Unfortunately, due to the snow, it had to be cancelled at the last minute. Instead they hope to show off their talents on Monday 4th at 6.30pm.
Sympathy
We extend our sympathy to Maria Nagle on the death of her relative Nancy Sweetnam recently in Cork. Also, to Ivan Draper on the death of his Uncle Edward Draper in West Cork recently. Ivan Forrest from Buttevant has also died. Our sympathy to his wife Kay and family members. Thanks to Canon Tom Sherlock who conduced the funeral service in the Rector’s absence.
Register of Vestry members
The register of vestry members has to be updated annually. At our next Vestry meeting on the 7th February we will be updating this. If you are not on the list, or not sure if you are on the list please talk to the Rector or Churchwardens and they will give you a form for completion. You need to be on the register in order to have a vote at the Easter General Vestry (11th April) to elect those who you wish to have on the Select Vestry for the coming year.
Golden Wedding
During our Sunday morning worship on the 13th January we celebrated, with their family, William and Myrtle Forde’s 50th Wedding anniversary which occurred the end of December. Congratulations to you both and many more years together.
Fermoy Parish
The appointment of a new rector for Fermoy parish has been announced. The Very Revd Gary Paulsen who is currently Rector of Killaloe and Dean of Killaloe and Clonfert has been nominated. He was born in Cape Town, South Africa and came to Ireland in 2011. We wish him well in his new parish in North Cork.
