Doneraile Concert
On the 5th of February we held our second concert in St. Mary’s Church, Doneraile and, once again, it was a resounding success – not only financially but also socially and entertainment wise. It was good to see the church filled with local people and also by parishioners from Mallow and Castletownroche.
It was very encouraging to see all our Doneraile parishioners, and others, coming together to do whatever they could to help – with teas, flower arranging, food, selling tickets, helping with parking, making people feel at ease, etc. It seemed to bring new life to the church, and this is what we want more than anything. We wish to thank everyone who helped in any way to make this event so successful – the talented performers, helpers, the Golf Club for providing parking and especially Ina Lillis who worked tirelessly for several months putting the whole thing together. Indeed, as somebody said, she makes a very good “floor manager”. We hope that she will continue in this role!

Mothers Union

Thanks to all who came to the beetle drive on Friday 26th February in St. James’ Hall Mallow at 8pm. This was a great family night and enjoyed by all.

Lismore MU have invited us to join in their Prayer Walk on Wednesday 23rd March at 3pm in Dromana House and Gardens, Cappaquin (1 mile from Villierstown beyond Cappoquin). Patsy Devoy (Diocesan President of Cork Cloyne and Ross) will be leading this walk. There will be a charge of €10 for entry to the Garden and Afternoon tea. If interested please contact Ruth Sherlock as the Lismore ladies need to have numbers.

FROM EAST CORK YOUTH OFFICER
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that we are definitely planning on doing an Easter event in East Cork this year.
I know I had mentioned the possibility but it looks like it is going to happen! The plan is to have an overnighter for the young people in the Church hall in Midleton, Saturday evening, followed by a sunrise walk and service on the beach in Ballyannon woods Sunday (Easter) morning. Then back for breakfast in the church hall afterwards, where everyone will be free to leave once that’s finished in order to get back to their homes for Easter.
Young people from East Cork and the city are more than welcome to attend the overnighter and service, additionally parents and other members of the Diocese are all invited to the sunrise service and breakfast as well.
I will send out more details and consent forms in the next few days but I just wanted to give you all a heads up!
Leaders will be needed as well if you have any that might like to participate.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Kristin
East Cork Diocesan Youth Coordinator & Chaplain Midleton College.

Baptism:
The Rector was delighted to be invited to assist in the Baptism of Thomas Samuel Bryan son of Frank and Oonagh with Fr. Jim Kennelly in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Kiskeam. It was a lovely family occasion – at one of the extremities of the parish that is Mallow Union! We wish Thomas and his parents every blessing.
Laura Brennan’s Volunteering plan:
Laura is planning a trip to South Africa to volunteer in an orphanage and the local community near Durban in October 2016. She will be there for two weeks working as a nurse. There are going to be two events to raise funds for this project. The first is a tea/coffee day on Friday 18th March at her home in Mallow and the second is a dance, with Dave Rea on 23rd April in the Hibernian Hotel. All support and donations are greatly appreciated.

The Crystal Project, the community dementia project in north Cork, led by the HSE, are currently looking for volunteers in the area. We are on the lookout for kind, caring and dependable people to join our team of social volunteer visitors. If you are interested in volunteering with the project or would like to find out more about what we do:
