HOLY WEEK IN THE MALLOW UNION

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Holy Week, the Rector will be exploring three personalities from the Christian tradition who responded to Jesus’s call to ‘take up your cross and follow me.’

On Maundy Thursday the 8pm Service in Doneraile will include washing of feet & stripping of the altar at St Mary’s Church, Doneraile.

We welcome the Right Reverend Dr Richard Clarke, formerly Archbishop of Armagh as preacher in St James’ Church Mallow on Good Friday at 8pm

As Good Friday and Holy Saturday becomes Easter Eve, we celebrate one of the most dramatic and vivid services of the Christian year, as we light the new fire of Easter, welcoming the light of Christ who overcomes the darkness of death, as we celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter at 8pm on Easter Saturday in St Mary’s Castletownroche

If any be lovers of God, let them rejoice in this beautiful and radiant feast. If any be faithful servants, let them gladly enter into the joy of their Lord. If any are wearied with fasting, let them now reap their reward. Enter then, all of you, into the joy of your Master. Let no one fear death; for the death of the Saviour has set us free.

From the Easter Sermon of John Chrysostum (c. 347-407)
