Good luck to all those sitting their Leaving Certificate or Junior Certificate exams in the coming weeks and to all those who are finished or finishing college.

Tea Day/Gift Day
Thanks to all who supported the tea day/gift day at Diana and Mark Buckley, Bridgetown, Castletownroche on Sunday 5th May. €1,210 was divided between the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland and St. Mary’s Maintenance Fund Castletownroche.

30th June Parish Picnic / American Tea Party
Following the 5th Sunday United Church Service in St. Mary’s Church Doneraile on Sunday 30th June we will again, this year, have an ‘American Tea Party Picnic’. This is a fundraiser for the parish and there is a charge of €10 per adult and children are free, (or you may give a donation if youprefer). For further information please contact the rector or the churchwardens and if you are free to come you might let the churchwardens know so that we have some idea of numbers. It was a most enjoyable event last year – NOT TO BE MISSED!

Mothers Union

The Diocesan Service was held in St Mary’s Church, Carrigaline on the 30th May at 7.30pm. Bishop Colton was the preacher and Mrs. Hilary Dring was commissioned as our new Diocesan President. Our outing will be on Saturday 6th July details to follow shortly or for further information contact Ruth Sherlock.

Cork, Cloyne and Ross Diocesan Synod.
The Synod will be held on Saturday 8th June. It begins with the Synod Service in Holy Trinity Church, Frankfield at 9.30am, before moving on to The Cork International Hotel, Cork Airport, to begin proceedings at 11am. The Synod Members from this parish are Chris Bond, Linda Deane, Ina Lillis, Richard Lynch and Victor Wolfe. Anyone may attend Synod, and indeed are very welcome and encouraged to do so, but only members have speaking rights.

No Correspondence
Finances – Things going ok at present but we need to keep an eye on it.
Rectory – leak in the hot-press but nothing to report
St. James’ Church Mallow – waiting to get hoist to inspect steeple and tower and also vestry roof
St. Mary’s Church, Castletownroche – Prices to be got on a new front door as it is rotten on the top. The electrician has renewed junction box on door.  Tower work to be done and leak over sanctuary to be looked at. Upcoming Tea Day/Gift Day for Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland and Castletownroche Maintenance

St. Mary’s Church, Doneraile – Nothing to report. Thanks to Eilish for arranging concert.
Safeguarding Trust – nothing to report 9 people undated there training
Health and Safety – Victor has forms done and to put up in churches
Charting a future – nothing to report
Parish picnic – meeting on 22nd May 2019
Fete – meeting on 29th May 2019
Concerts – Michael Foody arranging a concert in aid of ‘Cantalk’ and Eilish Nagle has booked St. James for concert on 25th October for ARC. It was decided to put a set fee on the church for concerts of €400 or €500 with hall and heating.
Rectors Business- Mallow School made €111,379 and has been invested purposes in the parish.
A ‘Whatapp’ group has been set up of vestry members and some people are to be texted about meeting.
The next meeting is on 20th June at 8pm

Well done to Michael Foody who organised a successful fundraising concertin St. James’ on 10th May. It was in aid of ‘Cantalk’ which is a cancersupport group. If anyone wants further details of the work that they do you will find their leaflets in St James’ Church.

Congratulations: to Sarah Mullock and Colin O’Gorman from Taney Parish in Dublin, who were married in St. Mary’s Church, Doneraile on 10th May.

Sympathy
We wish to send our sympathy to the Hazel Sherlock and family on thedeath of her brother, Richard Tanner of Conna recently, also to to John Ryan whose grand-uncle, Billy Browne of Castletownroche has died.  To the family of William (Billy) Buckley. To his brothers George and Ben and sisters Rose Shire and the late Isabel Quin and all the wider family circle. The huge crowd at the funeral showed how much hewas cared for and loved. We sympathise also with Mark Chamberlain and Rachel Whitty on the death of their father, Peter Chamberlain.
