Blackwater Social Club
The Blackwater Social Club AGM is on Wednesday next the 5th April at 9pm at Mark and
Diana Buckley’s, Bridgetown, Castletownroche. New members are always very
welcome to come and join the club.
Easter Vestry
Please note that the Easter Vestry is on Thursday 6th April at 8pm in St.
James’ Hall Mallow. Please try and attend this meeting so that you can elect those
who you want to serve on the Select Vestry for the coming year.
The Lismore MU ladies have invited us to join on their prayer walk again this year. The
Venue is Lismore Castle Gardens on April 12th at 3pm followed by afternoon tea in the
Castle. Canon Tom Sherlock will lead the prayer walk this year. Both men and women
are welcome to join them. If interested please contact Ruth Sherlock by Sunday 9th April
for numbers. 086/1588719.
Our next Mothers Union meeting is on April 19th at 8pm in St. James’ Hall Mallow.
Canon Eithne will speak to us on women of the Bible also Mrs. Shirley Wolfe will bring
her patchwork. Everyone is welcome to join us.
Alzheimer’s Tea Day
It is that time of year again when the Alzheimer Society of Ireland ask people to host Tea
Days around the country. Diana and Mark Buckley, Bridgetown, Castletownroche will
host a tea party on Friday 5th May from 11.00am to 1.00pm and from 8pm till late. So if
you are free please come along for a cup of tea/coffee and cake. Your support would be
greatly appreciated.
Mothering Sunday
Mothering Sunday was on the 26th March. Thanks to all who so organized such beautiful
flowers in each of the three churches for all the ladies.
Cherry Cup Competition
Well done to our Doneraile campanology team on coming 4th in the Cherry Cup
Competition in St. Fin Barre’s Cork on Sunday 26th March. The team was made up of
Julia Lysaght, David Deane, Linda Deane, Paul Deane, Eddie Gabriel and Mark Buckley.
The Bishop’s Confirmation Day
The candidates from Mallow Union greatly enjoyed
meeting young people from all over the Dioceses at the recent Confirmation Day in the
Canon Packham Hall in Douglas. Our candidates this year are Joshua and Leah Ellis,
Vinny Atkinson, Kiera Knipe and Michael Hartnett. Please remember them in your
prayers as they prepare for Confirmation.
