Register of Vestry members
The register of vestry members has to be update annually. At our next Vestry meeting on the 25th February we will be updating this. If you are not on the list, or not sure if you are on the list please talk to the Rector or Churchwardens and they will give you a form for completion. You need to be on the register to have a vote at the Easter Vestry (6th April) to elect those who you wish to have on the Select Vestry for the coming year.
Mothers Union
A group of ladies went bowling to Cork on 27th January. It was a fun night our. Thanks to everyone who supported it also the Fermoy members who joined us. Thanks to the ladies who drove on the night. A very enjoyable night was had by all.
Our next meeting is a beetle drive on Friday 26th February in St. James’ Hall Mallow at 8pm. This is a family night out and we encourage all ages to come to this. There is a charge of €5 for Adults and €3 for children this goes towards MU Overseas Funds.
On 21st January we were saddened with the death of our oldest member Mrs. Mary Coulter who was 101. A lady who had seen many changes in life. She was a loyal member of the mother’s union for years. She had a great interest in everyone and supported everything that took place in the parish. We send our sympathy to her three daughter’s and extended family. Our prayers are with them at this time.
World Day of Prayer
The annual World Day of Prayer will be celebrated on Friday 4th March 2016 in St. Joseph the Worker’s Church, Hazelwood, Mallow at 8.15pm. This day of prayer is a global movement of informed prayer and prayerful action. The Christian women of Cuba prepared this year’s service on the theme “receive children , receive me”, echoing the words of Jesus “suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of heaven”. The people of Cuba were guaranteed religious freedom in 1990 and Cuban Christians are very thankful for this privilege with congregations are growing. All are welcome men, women and children. A bible study/ planning meeting will be hosted by Mrs. Eileen Palmer at her home in Caherduggan , Doneraile at 2pm on Friday 12th February 2016, anyone interested in being involved is welcome. Further information phone 022 25295 or 087 6921649.
Sympathy
We express our sympathy to Fay Woolf and her family on the death of her uncle in England and to Emily & John de Montfort and Freddie on the death of Emily’s aunt Mary McDowell. To the Bingham family on the death of Duncan Bingham especially to his daughter Allison Cagney and her family Paul, Isabel and Hugh. To the Coulter family on the death of Mary Coulter particularly her daughters Agnes, Ellen and Lelia and the wider family circle who passed away on 21st January after a long and happy life. To Ena Withers whose husband, Bob died on St Stephen’s Day and her stepson on Christmas Day.
