Thanks to all who attended the Easter Vestry on Wednesday the 15th April in St. James Hall, Mallow. Thanks to all who allowed their names go forward for election this year and to all the out going vestry thanks for all your work in the last 12 months.

In Canon Eithne’s report this year she said that that there were 2 Baptisms, No Confirmation, No Weddings and 5 Burials during the year in the parish. The President visited Mallow, Mary Coulter celebrated her 100th Birthday, Canon Eithne and Richard celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary and Mallow No 1 School closed and the Doneraile Bellringers came 1st in the Cherry Cup.
Also during the meeting Canon Eithne showed us her vestments that she wears each Sunday and explained to us what time of the year she wears the different colour scarfs.
Baptisms
On Sunday the 19th April in Doneraile Evelyn Rebeka Gardiner and Noah Gardiner children of Robert Gardiner and Pavlina Stankovicova were baptised during the Holy Communion Service.

Sympathy
We sympathise with Mary O’Brien and her brother Bill Hadnett on the death of their father Joe Hadnett who was buried on Wednesday 22nd April in St. Gobnaits Mallow.

Charting a Future with Confidence
A special word of thanks to all who came to the meeting on Wednesday 22nd April. It was great to see everyone and hopefully this meeting will give the group an idea of where we are in Mallow union.

 

Mothers Union

Thanks to Mrs. Patsy Devoy for coming to speak to us on Tuesday 28th April at 8pm in St. Jame’s Hall, Mallow. It was a very interesting meeting when we started making a flower arranagement and then a card which we could take home with us followed by bible readings. The flowers were for ourselves to take home thinking of the gifts we have and the card was to give to someone special.

Mums in May
Canon Tom and Hazel Sherlock have kindly agreed to have a tea day for the Mums in May on 18th June (more details next month)

Outing to Carlow Area
As last years outing was a great success we are arranging another one for Saturday 4th July so please keep this date free and we will have more details next month. We are planning to travel to the Carlow area.

Alzheimer’s Tea Day
It is that time of year again the the Alzheimer Society of Ireland ask people to host tea day’s around the country. Diana and Mark Buckley, Bridgetown, Castletownroche will host a tea party on Friday 8th May from 10.00am to 4pm and from 8pm till late. So if you are free please come along for a cup of tea/coffee and cake. There will be a raffle with 1st prize – a box of chicken goujons (2.5kg) kindly donated by Heavenly foods plus other prizes. All monies raised will stay in the locality to provide necessary services and supports for people in the north Cork area. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Blackater Social Club
The Blackwater Social Club invite you to a BBQ and Ice Cream Sunday on Sunday 17th May at Mark and Diana Buckley’s, Bridgetown, Castletownroche. Admission will be Adults €12 and Secondary School and National School Children €6. This year the funds raised will go to Down Syndrome Ireland and Mallow Search and Rescue. This is open to all ages young and old.
