Happy New Year to all. Hope you had a Peaceful and Happy Christmas. By the time you read this we will have had our carols services in all our churches, our concert in Mallow Church, our Christmas Eve and Day services. Thanks to all who decorated our churches for christmas and those who read and supplied music and made all our Christmas Services so special.
Christmas Concert
The Christmas Concert was in St. James Church on Friday 12th December at 8pm. Thanks to all our Artists to Cor Mhagh Ealla, Guest Artists – Linda Kenny Soprano, Dan Twomey Tenor and Davis College Girls Choir. Thanks to all who helped in any way with this concert to make it the success that it was. Around €4000 was made for parish funds.
Children’s Christmas Party
There was a party for all the parish children in St. James Hall on Saturday 27th December. Thanks to all the children that came along and to all who organised this and Santa popped in with a small gift for each child that was there.
Thanks to Canon Tom and Hazel Sherlock for opening their home again this year on Tuesday December 9th for an afternoon of fun for the senior members of the parish. This was a very socialable and enjoyable afternoon with singing of carols, food and Santa even found time out of his busy schedule to pop in.
Our next meeting is a trip to Cork bowling on Tuesday 20th January at 8pm. If you are able to go please contact Ruth Sherlock or any other member so that she can arrange numbers on or before Sunday 18th January. You don’t have to be a member of the Mothers Union to go bowling.
Sympathy
We sympathise with Bryan Deane and family Burnfort on the death of his aunt Liz Scanlon of Ballyhooly and also to Diana Buckley and the Shorten family on the death of her uncle John Shorten Ballineen.
Doneraile Maintenance
There will be a Concert in aid of the St Mary’s Church Doneraile Maintenance Fund on Friday 6th February at 8pm in the church.
