A Huge Congratulations to our Bell ringers who won the Cherry Cup on Sunday 7th April in Kilkenny. This was the first time the cup was won by a Doneraile team. The team was Julia Lysaght, David Deane, Paul Deane, Roy Deane, Eddie Gabriel and Mark Buckley.

Easter Vestry

Our Easter Vestry meeting was on Monday 8th April 2013 at 8pm in the Hall. Thanks to all who attended. Thanks to all those who allowed their names go forward for election again this year and thanks to all of last year’s vestry for all the work they did in the past 12 months.

Past Events

Our April meeting was held on Tuesday 16th April. Our speakers were Mairead O’Keeffe and Terena Harrington from New Leaf Health Store and Holistic Centre, Kanturk. They gave a very interesting talk on health and well-being. Also told us foods to be included in our diets for a healthy lifestyle. Thank you to everyone who made the night a success.

On Thursday 18th April we had our council meeting in Bandon. Rev. Isobel Jackson opened the meeting with Holy Communion service she is the new Chaplain for the Mothers Union. We would like to thank Canon Eithne Lynch for all her work she did when she was Chaplain.

Forthcoming Event
On Thursday 30th May we look forward to extending a warm welcome to a group of Mothers Union ladies from Cashel and Ossory. They have asked to end their outing with a service in St. James Church Mallow on Thursday 30th May. The service time is to be confirmed yet but we think it is at 11am. After the service we will serve a light lunch in the hall. If anybody is free to help or bring food on the day if would be most welcome. Contact Ruth Sherlock about this.

Alzheimer Tea Day

Please come and have a cup of tea/coffee and cake and support the Alzheimer Society of Ireland at Mark and Diana Buckley’s, Bridgetown, Castletownroche on Thursday May 9th between 10.30am and 12.30 or 7pm and 9pm. Please bring a friend or two if you wish.

Blackwater Social Club

The Blackwater Social Club are holding their annual BBQ and Ice-cream Sunday on 26th May at Mark and Diana Buckley’s, Bridgetown, Castletownroche. Proceeds are for Down Syndrome Ireland, Adair School Fermoy and Mallow No 1 School. Adults €12 and Secondary and Primary School €6. Please come and join in this event suitable for all ages. (The road from Mallow to Castletownroche is closed at time of writing). If you want directions please contact Diana 086/1547810.

Sympathy

We wish to express our sympathy to the Wallace family on the death of Mrs. Ann Wallace. Kathlyn Wallace’s mother-in-law. Sympathy too to the families of Doreen Milton and Alan Cairns who passed away recently.

Warmer Homes Scheme 2013

The Warmer Homes Scheme is currently accepting new applications. The scheme is for attic and cavity wall insulation, and the service is free of charge for all eligible households. To be eligible for the scheme, the house must be owner occupied and have been built prior to 2002, and the owner or a member of the household must be in receipt of one of the following; The Winter fuel allowance, or Family Income Supplement, or Job Seeker’s allowance for over six months with children under 7 years of age. MALLOW NO1 NS

There will be another clothes collection on 4th June. Clothes, shoes, bags, curtains, sheets etc can all be included and will make money for the school. Bags of clothes may be left into the school on the morning of the 4th or at the Rectory any time in advance – or put them in the Rector’s car when you see her.
